27 Aug AUGUST 30TH, NARCAO, Mondelci-Furia-Riggi-Schirru
On Saturday 30th of August, at 9.30 PM, at Europa Square in Narcao, the musicians Federico Mondelci, Fabio Furia, Giacomo Riggi and Marco Schirru will perform in Tango meets Jazz as part of the XVI edition of ARTango&Jazz Festival by Anton Stadler Association ETS.
Tango Meets Jazz is inspired by the two albums Astor Pizzolla released in 1974, Summit and in 1986, The New Tango, featuring saxophonist Gerry Mulligan and vibraphonist Gary Burton, respectively. The scores for the original songs from The New Tango, mostly composed specifically for Gary Burton, have been lost, and to date, none have been published. The same fate befell the scores for the album, which was born from an idea by Aldo Pagani, the Italian agent and publisher who had the vision to bring together Gary Mulligan and Astor Piazzolla. The result was a masterpiece: Summit has now become history.
Tango Meets Jazz represents a unique concert, fusing tango and jazz in a rare and exciting combination. A tribute to the great composer Astor Piazzolla and two great soloists, Gary Burton and Gerry Mulligan. This is a tribute that goes beyond the Argentine Maestro’s classic compositions, aiming to rediscover some of his forgotten or little-known masterpieces, just waiting to shine once again on stage and conquer new audiences.
On Stage:
Federico Mondelci, sax
Fabio Furia, bandoneón
Giacomo Riggi, vibraphone
Marco Schirru, piano
Anton Stadler String Quartet
